What if what? Put some verbs in your sentences please; I don't speak thought-sense. If by "cooks" you mean "crooks" or "kooks" (either works), they either know already what the consequences are, or they don't care. That's what makes them crooks (or kooks, as the case may be).
Regardless, this DID make the national news. Your question was "why didn't this make the National news?" and you continued to criticize the lack of national news. It made the National news, you are criticizing the existence of something that doesn't exist (which is to say - a conspiracy by media to cover up something that wasn't covered up).
