We recommend that you live in your home awhile and see if you feel the need for any water treatment. You should also know that there is water filtration and water softening. They are two different systems and outcomes. There are some dual units, but generally filtration does not soften and softeners do not filter.

There IS one company that DOES aggressively market their product and often will give you a very high estimate. They are hard sell and will hit you within days of closing, promising you a welcome basket or something. We do not recommend that company.

Once you live here awhile and feel you may benefit from either a filtration system and/or a softener system, we recommend NOVA. They are NOT hard sell, and are a local family business. Their prices are very reasonable and many folks, including both my two sons and I are happy with their product.

When folks buy here in The Villages many soon come to the conclusion that they bought a "brand new fixer upper" and start spending a lot of money doing upgrades just because they are talked into it or their neighbor did it. It is wise to wait and live here awhile and see your different options and if you really need it. We see too many good folks get taken advantage of.

The only upgrade we do advise folks to get, IF they want it, right away is if you want your garage floor epoxied. It is better to get this done before you fill your garage up with tons of stuff you moved here with without realizing you probably should not have brought it with you. We recommend Tim Miller for this, and you should consider arranging for this as soon as you know your closing date. Hope this helps!
