Has anyone noticed the construction update listed a couple times per week in the Daily Sun now separates construction projects between those in the north and south, and projects such as the Woodworking Shop in Brownwood are classified as northern projects?

If the doom and gloom predictions listed in the Daily Sun articles about the negative effects of slow economic growth are true, when addressing the potential effects of increased impact fees, I sure wish they would start tapping the breaks on the current growth rate so that the eventual stoppage in growth (cheap land is not infinite) can be delayed for many more years. The way I see it is that the growth is a game of musical chairs, and when the growth (music) suddenly stops, there won’t be enough chairs to go around. So why not slow down the music so everyone can enjoy it for as long as possible.

I think the reasons for the rapid growth, seemingly as quickly as possible, are primarily twofold. Profits as soon as possible are better than spread out over time, and the end of the wave of retiring baby boomers with fat juicy savings accounts, pensions, and 401k’s is on the horizon. What worries me is when all of us baby boomers pass on, there won’t be nearly the demand from future generations to support a place the size of the Villages. Oh well, I guess that will be our kids problem?
