I have certainly seen lots when taking my boat up the Oklawaha and Silver River.
I also heard that they were left behind after the filming of Tarzan with Johnny Weismuller in the 1930's - you hear a lot of these stories but it's difficult to know which of them to believe.

The first time I took the boat ride in Silver Springs, that when they took you deep into the river I saw one myself and heard the same Tarzan story.
