The stimulus bill provided more unemployment and other funds to folks not to work. So very few are working. They make more money by staying home. I was in Bonifay yesterday and they wouldn't seat us even though the place was less then half full. Not enough help with wait staff or in the kitchen is what we were told. Culvers has closed the inside option and only doing take out. And this is happening at many other places. Look at the job ads to have your eyes opened.

Probably places where they are very slow to open the economy needed this type help. But places that have moved forward to open business and dining it is killing. And this will go on for another 93 weeks or almost 2 years. They needed a targeted solution not a one fits all solution. Many small businesses will fail because of this issue.
This is going on all over the country. Have relocated to NC and noticing the problem here, shelves not being stocked, no service personnel in restaurants, retail.
Daughter went shopping at Petsmart, Petco and Walmart yesterday. Couldn't find anything. Products were sitting on palettes on floor, unopened, because the stores have no one to restock the shelves.
Husband's Physical Therapist reports the "returns department" at Walmart closed because no one available to work.
Sister living in Pittsburgh is relating same problems there...... no workers in restaurants, retail.....
And, yes, a lot of it is the result of government benefits being paid.... the employee is making more money, sitting at home, collecting unemployment and the stimulus benefit added to same. Why work when you can make more money sitting at home?
Becoming a major issue and the result is not going to be good.
