Well folks - Marathon Man and Neils are correct for the most part! The cost for music at the Brownwood and Lake Sumter Landing squares is offset by a $120,000 County Tourism Grant. No such grant money subsidizes the music at the Spanish Springs square since it is not in Sumter County. And I doubt that the average of approx $330/night pays for all of the costs associated with the entertainment at the 2 squares...so the additional money must come from the businesses.
The County Tourism Grant is funded from a 2% tax on Sumter County's rented rooms like hotel and motel facilities.
The Tourism Grant is not paid for from Sumter County property taxes! Info re the Sumter County TOurism Grant can be found in the minutes of the Commissioner's meeting here
