When I book me and my wife as a twosome, we hope for a male/female as the other couple. If we get a female/female, I will play from the forward tees to allow for talking and fun. If we get male/male, my wife is not happy but after we start playing the guys are always supportive and are enjoyable company. With the exception of one couple (male/female) who seemed to be upset at everything they did, we have never had an uncomfortable or uneasy time with any twosome we have been paired with on a golf course.

I say sign up as a twosome and take whatever twosome you get paired with.
