Warpspeed was the ONE good element of the MANY bad elements of the EARLY national CLUMSY attempts to protect US citizens from CV. 1st there was "happy talk" that implied that CV did NOT even EXIST. Then there was the "same as the flu" type of downplaying. Then there was the incorrect modeling of how to deal with CV. Reporters and garden guests were seated shoulder-to-shoulder and were FORBIDDEN from wearing masks. This general "downplaying" drifted down to the average US citizen. It could be seen EVEN in the posts of TV Landers on this forum. The "mask aversion" in TV Land continues to this day. But, here is the BIG-TIME "REST of the Story". This early failure of the US to protect its citizens (as ANY country is SUPPOSED to do) - resulted in about 200,000 UNNECESSARY deaths for us Americans. It was TRAGIC!
These UNNECESSARY DEATHS were at around Dec. 2020 - 200,000 out of about 350,000 deaths were preventable had the government strongly supported masks and social distancing before Jan 2021 when the vaccines started to be available to select, elite people. This is provable because at that same time governments that reacted well to the CV problem like S. Korea, Australia, Finland, Norway, and Japan had almost zero deaths. The US and Sweden were the countries that screwed up and had many UNNECESSARY deaths. Warpspeed was the ONLY bright spot in an otherwise DISMAL record that the US had early in the CV Pandemic when US citizens were let down by their OWN government to the tune of 200,000 Americans DEAD!!!!!!!
