Kicking "W" around at this stage is a little old but it does remind me of a story that Bernard Garmire the former Miami Police Chief told me.

Police Chief tenures can be fickle and short given their exposure to political dynamics. When he left office, the seasoned old police chief told his successor that he had prepared three envelopes. The first to be opened when enemies wanted his job. It would buy him some time. The second to be opened with the second waive of attacks and hopefully this would buy more time. The third to be opened with the next assault on his tenure.

His successor took office and after six months the powers of record went for his jugular and job. He remembered the letters and opened the first one. It read simply..."BLAME EVERYTHING ON ME. " He blamed everything on his predecessor and told his powerful critics he needed time to correct the mistakes of the former chief. It worked and he bought time.

About twelve months later they came at him again. He remembered the second letter the old chief told him about. He opened and read, "BLAME EVERYTHING ON THE MEDIA". The chief went public and railed at media bias and lack of support from the press. He blamed them for irresponsible reporting and editorializing. It worked he bought some time.

Then, alas, they came at him again. He remembered the old chief's sound advice and opened the third letter. It said....PREPARE THREE LETTERS.

Bush bashers and Obama have already used up the mojo from the first letter and there are signs the may have already started to open the second.
