Absolutely NOT true. As a former seller and curent buyer they only collect tax on items
SOLD BY AND SHIPPED BY Amazon. Half the "prime" items are SHIPPED BY AMAZON but SOLD BY another seller and there is never tax on them unless that seller is located in FL. I can show you dozens of Amazon purchases that have not been taxed (and are still Prime and still have the same return policy as if it were SOLD AND SHIPPED by Amazon. Even the same item can have 2 Prime sellers, one will be taxed and one will not.
Here are just a few examples. All Prime, all SHIPPED BY Amazon and all with the same full return policy which you do not get if SHIPPED BY 3rd party seller. SHIPPED BY is the key for full Amazon protection. If you need further clarification feel free to PM.
In any case, it will all be moot as of July 1.
