I have a courtyard villa with masonry walls and I have drilled holes in my wall to hang metal decorations. It's my wall and those holes don't affect its integrity. Do not drill into your next door neighbor's house though (the wall in your side yard facing your sliders). That would not be neighborly, and is specifically forbidden in the CDD1 courtyard villa deed restrictions (and probably all others too).
