You cannot remove Flash Player in the normal way you would other programs. I had the same problem and could not get it removed. I tried hacking the registry after removing the program ut I still could not get the new version to load. A Google search solved my problem. Here are is a link to the Adobe web site.
Read the directions as you may lose some Active-X links in your browser. That is no problem because if you remove it and need it again it will ask if you want to install Active-X again.
Download the progran and run it.
