If I we’re in your position, I would store stuff in NJ while renting a furnished home. I would probably only want to rent one for the 3 months. Many have suggested to ditch your current furniture and buy new... I have done a little of both. We have a Pod for the furnishings we are bringing. I am bringing the items that bring me joy, or are sentimental. Some are just plain useful. I am buying new furniture as well. I could not furnish my whole house for the cost of the move, so this is working out for me.
