I agree. I would add in such non profits as Community Helping Animals in Need. They help people in our local area who may need surgery, food, medicine, etc. for those who have pets, but have been put under some financial strain. They also help with emergency surgeries for animals hit by cars. Helping many of these people help them keep their pet at home versus putting them out in the street as strays. Our animal shelters are overwhelmed. I like to keep my money local and know that the officers (all volunteers), do not take any pay. All money goes to treatment and an occasional small amount for office expenses.
