This has been discussed on this site several times. One of the problems is that many (NOT all) flooring companies or big box stores use sub contractors, get a good crew you get a good or very good project, get a bad crew and results will probably less desirable. Because of this, I took out our carpet and installed Mohawk Luxury Vinyl Plank (Lowe's) myself in the 2 bedrooms, 3 closets, and small hallway, got exactly what we wanted, took 10 days a few hours each day, did NOT have to empty the rooms, and I saved $$$$.
IMHO, try a search of this site to see if any installer has significant positive reviews and uses their own crews.
