Think this movie was one of the last my mother and I saw at the Petaluma Theater in Petaluma, CA around May of 1996. Lots of movies were filmed in Petaluma, CA. And not for NOTHING.

Did some research and I found a receipt for the South Entrance to the Grand Canyon dated April 10, 1996. So we must have NOTHING but been in Palm Harbor, Florida by May of 1996. I traveled around southern states in my trip from the San Francisco area to Palm Harbor, FL in 1996 and the Grand Canyon was one of my stops.

So would have seen Twister in Palm Harbor, FL when it opened.
