Recall that in 2001 I flew to El Paso to interview at the University of Texas at El Paso for a law librarian job even though they did not have a law library but just a section that had some law books. They were looking for someone to mentor promising UTEP students to apply and get in and prosper at very good law schools.

I did really like the people there and met the President of UTEP and others. Really interesting architecture.

They let almost anyone in but have or had a steep attrition rate.

UTEP paid for my trip back and forth and for the night and dinner in the El Paso hotel.

I spoke about my hobby a bit and had had it on my resume.

This was in 2001 so there were a some armed soldiers in the Tampa, Dallas-Ft. Worth and El Paso, Texas airports because of 9/11.
