I think this is one of the most amusing threads I’ve read in quite a while.
First of all, no one should expect entertainers to be any different than the average person, other than they have a pulpit. It’s silly to get upset when they say something that is dumb, insulting, etc. Life’s too short. Just throw away your concert shirt.
Secondly, I don’t have allegiance to a piece of cloth, just like my Jewish friend. I have allegiance to my country. When I was raised Catholic, we were taught that we didn’t pray to icons, we prayed to what they represent. It’s really tragic if someone dyed for a piece of cloth.
Next, it is especially amusing to read comments saying posters who say the flag has changed (other than stars) don’t know their history. At first, a stripe was added with admission of a new state. In 1818, the flag went back to 13 stripes. Who doesn’t know their history?
Here’s my idea: change the stars. We are not an all-white country. If there are 16% brown people in the population, we should have 8 brown stars. Perhaps 2 yellow, at least 1 red, no matter the % indigenous population. If 10% of the population is LGBT, have 5 stars that show a rainbow.
