The USA doesn't need people to fly flags in its honor. It will stand, or it will fall, with or without a flag. Not because of a flag.
If you want to fly a flag, then fly one. If it means something to you to do that, then you should absolutely do it. But do it correctly. Otherwise, YOU are the one being disrespectful.

It’s always funny when others instruct us on exactly why we feel the way we do, whys it’s incorrect but do it if we must.
The American flag represents so much more than you are capable of comprehending when we gaze upon it. It is the symbol of freedom, lives lost through wars, the tenacity of this Republic to get it right even though at times we struggle. God bless America!
