Until we moved here 5 years ago, I had never seen the yellow blinking left arrow when the main traffic light in red.
When the main traffic light in my direction is red, my instincts tell me that the light for the cross traffic must be green, so I am not going to pull out into the intersection. I will wait until I get a green left turn arrow.

You really should learn to drive. Yellow has never meant stop. It means proceed with caution. You should complete your turn if traffic conditions allow. If you don’t do this you should expect the drivers behind you to get irritated. It is your fault that they are irritated not theirs.
