Back in the 1970s when I was a member of the NY bar I looked into moving to FL. What I found was the local bar jealously guarded its turf, making it very difficult to obtain a FL license to practice. Truth based on experience with attorneys and our legal system, I have a low opinion of both.
In terms of protecting their turf, you could say that about any field.
As far as career change, I seem to recall Col Sanders of chicken fame started at 80 something. Personally I am thankful that I worked hard and saved hard for 45 years.
I am too old, my back is shot and I do not need or want a job at Wallmart.
