That is one of the great things about this forum - the posters really have no agenda. I LOVE the sales reps we worked with, but they do make their living selling homes.

While some people on this board do have their own businesses and provide services (and the ones I have spoken with have been helpful and not "pushy), most are just living in a place that makes them happy and want to share that.

One thing I learned from our recent purchase - some of the new homes being sold on spec can offer a very good discount - especially in neighborhoods TV is trying to close out. If you decide to choose a homesite and build, the discount just went from 5% to 4.5% - which tells me that sales are picking up. That may be the time to buy is sooner rather than later if it fits in with your financial plans. We had thought the good buys would be in the resales - but just couldn't find what we wanted and the prices seemed high. As we didn't make an offer on any, it may be that the owners are willing to negotiate.
