rshoffer hit the magic answer. Fitted clubs will improve your game. Make sure they all have the same shaft flex, the same bend point, the same torque, the same swing weight, frequency, kick point, lie angle, and grip size. All matched for your swing and your game will improve. Club heads don't matter much, but the shaft is extremely important. Get a decent set of cavity backed iron heads, some over sized woods and take them to someone who has the tools to set them up for you. I just go on ebay and buy the cheapest set of clubs with decent heads I can find and them set them up for my swing. I just bought a set of King Cobra FP irons for $90. A set with steel shafts, stiff flex and worn out grips. Bought new graphite shafts, grips, and rebuilt them to my requirements. They work great. Got about $300 in them total.
