Of course, this begs the question of just
what is considered a case.
Let's make this easier for the non-professionals:
Your kid gets a
case of chicken pox. He has skin lesions, fever and a cough. You keep him home from school until all the lesions have crusted over. Period. Now, as for the other 30 kids in his 2nd grade class, we watch them for development of a
case, meaning skin lesions, fever and cough. If they don't get it, fine.
What we do not do: We DO NOT test every kid in the class every day for Varicella antigen, and when a positive crops up call it "a case" and quarantine them.
Also, what we
DO NOT do: Give the kids Varicella vaccination and then continue to test them for chicken pox
