Op you must not be a prepper. If you are really serious about what ever you fear, any military supply store, or military base has survival kits. Costco for that matter has some.

You can buy per week, per month, or buy a pallet. No special storage, lasts for what will be your life time. We have a kit in all of our homes, not for your reasons, but for tornado, or hurricane. We lost power and cell towers, couple weeks ago from a tornado, for 8 days. Gas for generator was scarce.

Grandkids used the 7 day kit for 3 day while power was out, 200 plus trees and downed live wires blocked in or out of their home. Now that is a real reason to be prepared. All agreed not the best food, but kept them comfortable and have now made a list as to what to add for next time.

Op you didn’t say you got a whole house generator, or portable. Without it you won’t have the food you squirreled away.

Very little makes me worry as you are. Think vegetarian, and a gas’s grill. We don’t hoard, if there is a shortage, we make do with something else.
