First of all, any district mandating masks in schools is violating an executive order by the governor of Florida banning such mandates, which carries with it force of law. Personally, I disagree with that order, but it is the law, so if I were the governor I would have those school boards arrested and let them contemplate their contempt for the law from a jail cell.

That being said, and I'll admit to a bit of hyperbole here, this was the gestalt from the school supervisors that were interviewed:

Aug. 2020: Masks are the best thing since sliced bread. We should all go to the church of the holy mask and bow to the altar and thank the mask god for providing them

Today: Masks aren't much of a defense, but they must do something, so we'll mandate them anyway

Aug. 2022: ????????

And all this from the government that assured us our children were safe under their desks during a nuclear attack.

If only flip-flopping were a sport and betting was allowed..........
