I have now achieved 3M miler status on Delta so here's my opinion
The carts have escalated from $2 to $6 now. Its easy to use a credit card. Insert cart, look at the monitor, then pull your cart out. Simple.
Or if you want to be frugal (cheap) like me, when you get to the baggage claim area, take a quick look outside. Often I've found a cart just sitting there that someone used.
