I think there should be some flexibility for the gentleman who wants to float (and stretch). I would stop by the rec center office and ask if there is a quiet time when you could use your float device. Perhaps you can use it in a lane or two with a friend. This is not peak season.

The rec centers will not do that because everyone will expect exceptions.
