Quercetin is an over the counter supplement that is also a zinc Ionophore and does essentially the same function as HCQ as it relates to zinc. It can be taken as prophylaxes without any of the side-effects.
We know that zinc does inhibit Sars-cov2 replication in vivo. Just taking a zinc supplement without an ionophore though will result in a low concentration in the cells, probably too low to do much good. The ionophore will raise the cellular concentrations dramatically, enough to start having an effect. It could be the difference between the sniffles and a bad go of it.
