My opinion, which is about as relevant as anyone else's is: I have no intention of spending hours on the computer every morning, fighting for a position/appointment in some far location for this booster shot. I did it for my spouse and was glad to do it for her. The bonus was that I was able to get mine at the same time. Would I have secured a spot for my own shot if not for her? Probably not. All my children but one and all my grandchildren except the very youngest have had Covid and the worst case was equal to a mild cold. Two of my family have had Covid twice, and the only hindrance was having to quarantine, not being able to go to work until they received a negative test result.
I have never had the flu and do not get the flu shot. From what I understand (and I may be wrong) is that the flu shot you get this year is NOT for the current version of the FLU but based upon the previous years of FLU. I'm in pretty good shape and take NO prescription medications.
Will I get the booster? I don't know. If they offer it to me when/IF my spouse gets a booster, then maybe. Am I concerned about the chance of infection? I went over a year without becoming infected so far. I haven't been infected by the FLU either so I must be doing something right or one of the luckiest 70's yo in the country.
Do I believe in vaccinations? Sure, I think everyone else should get them. Do I believe that folks should be bullied into getting them? NO, I do not. Do I think that those that decline are stupid? No, it is their right and it is their personal choice. Do I care whether or not folks believe their health insurance goes up due to someone else's personal choices? No, I do not care. Do I worry about what an infection might do to me? No, because I have the greatest confidence that IF/IF I ever get infected, it will not kill me. Everyone will die eventually and I believe that whether or not I get the vaccination, I will likely live into my 90's.
My spouse beat death out several times. If she wants the booster, I will gladly assist her. If she declines, I will respect her choice and will not think less of her. Just like I will not think less of anyone on here or my neighbors that decline vaccination.
Some of you are really-really terrible at convincing those that are undecided to get vaccinated. If you want to convince, it is my opinion that proving or providing proof that the vaccine is safe would be the best way to influence folks. I believe the vaccines are safe and think that folks that have medical issues SHOULD be vaccinated. But, I do not know you so IF you die I won't miss you. I am sure there are some that will, though.

1) I have no intention of spending hours on the computer every morning, fighting for a position/appointment in some far location for this booster shot.
For what it is worth, the powers that be are telling us there will be plenty of vaccine availability for the boosters for everyone.
2) From what I understand (and I may be wrong) is that the flu shot you get this year is NOT for the current version of the FLU but based upon the previous years of FLU.
Not quite. The CDC and WHO go to predominantly SE Asia and China in Dec-Feb and sample people for the strains of influenza that are predominating----which is usually the ones that will hit the US starting in the fall. They give those strains to the vaccine manufacturers (of which the last US company was Wyeth in 1997 because our lawyers put them all out of business so now we rely 100% on foreign sources for flu shots), and the vaccine is produced over the summer for distribution in the fall/winter. It's not a perfect process but reasonable.
3) Do I think that those that decline are stupid? No, it is their right and it is their personal choice.
Yes, but the two are not mutually exclusive
