It's trying to communicate through the car speakers and failing for some reason.
It's possible you need to change the source to bluetooth or phone or iphone. It's also possible your phone is not compatible with the vehicle.
It is for this exact reason that I bring power port chargers when I am going to be in a rental car. The USB ports tend to be "smart" and try to link the devices. The power power adapter prevents the phone from trying to link to the entertainment center and not working properly.
