If rudeness to employees by patrons wasn't tolerated by management you would see a significant decrease in bad behavior. No company is going to go out of business if they tell jerks to leave the premises. In fact as a customer I will be more supportive of a business if they do kick out jerks so I don't have to listen to their idiocy.
If a business allows jerks to disrupt my dining experience I won't be back. We were at a national steakhouse chain restaurant where there was a group of 5 boys between 9 and 11 or so and 4 adults. The brats were running around the tables yelling and playing tag. I called for the manager and all she couldn't do anything but offer to let us eat free. I asked her who wants to eat a meal and have to put up with that garbage even if the meal if free. She didn't have an answer. I wrote the CEO of the corporation explaining what happened. I'll give him credit, he did return my letter and apologized but said he couldn't change the policy of the restaurant on obnoxious customers. He gave us $60 in vouchers for the restaurant, they went into the trash and we never went back, and I badmouthed them to everyone I knew.
Watch some UTube videos, it isn't just older people being jerks, it is all age groups.
