We bought a resale through the Multiple Listing System (not the Villages Listing System). We didn't use a lawyer. (Actually we bought from away prior to even viewing the property. We got a great deal and couldn't resist.) Our MLS agents handled everything and we closed by fax and wire transfer of the money.

If you have any trepidation at all, I suggest you use a lawyer. I had previous experience as a real estate broker in Canada, so I basically felt confident in understanding the process and the forms.
