Remember the thirteen U.S. troops killed a few days before because the Taliban “guarding” the road to the airport allowed a suicide bomber to get past their checkpoints? Remember the “credible threat” that another bomb was about to be set off? Was there immense pressure to keep that from happening? Did the guy in the car look highly suspicious to people watching on satellite or drone images? Yes! Is there a lag time between when the order to strike is given and when the drone hits? Yes. Would you rather that the guy who gave the order hesitate until after another bomb had gone off? Are you glad the hit was made in an enclosed courtyard instead of on a busy street where hundreds might have been killed? I’m sorry the kids died, but so did those 13 troops. Go complain to their families! Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty, right? Don’t try to politicize this. I think the right decision was made.
