The same thing happened to me. The DVR appeared to be erased by a power surge. I ordered a replacement thinking all was lost. Then I bought a surge protector. Next day, I unplugged the DVR, plugged it into the surge protector and it rebooted completely and restored all the recordings I thought were lost. Lesson learned: always reboot before surrendering.
