Yup, Elon Musk said pretty much the same thing a couple years ago, and so because co-founder of OpenAI with a goal of creating an AI that will remain on "our side" in the event of an AI that wants to wipe us out.
That is the intent of OpenAI - of course there is always the "what could go wrong" ...
