I have Progressive and my Policy price for the next year starting 10/27/2021 went up from $1700 to over $2400 for the same coverage I have this year. Exploring other options, I have heard that the reason rates are highly driven by the roofing replacements. Even though I did not get a new roof, I am being charged the pool rate that is being assessed to have insurance companies recover what they gave paid for new roofs.

Checked several companies and find similar raises for equivalent coverages. One way I am told that I can reduce rates is to change to a 2 per cent deductible for hurricane coverage. Even though we usually don't get hurricanes here, the definition (A named storm) qualifies as a hurricane even though the local area is outside of hurricane winds. Thus if we get a small tornado spawned by the named storm, it falls under the hurricane deductible.
