I did find myself wondering why the media jumped on this particular case of a young woman who went missing. Following the story is fine, but why was this front page news on so many media outlets for days? I mean no disrespect for her, but she’s not a celebrity, not someone well known etc.

And yes there were plenty of white women who went missing that were not given this kind of continuous coverage. I don’t think there’s a racial issue here.

It would be interesting to look into why a particular case draws national attention. Perhaps it helps if the missing person is a young white female but there are a lot of young white females missing right now that aren't on national news.
