Except Frankenstein's monster
was guilty, as he had killed a couple of people including a little girl, albeit inadvertently. Great movie, though (the 1931 version). Unbelievable production values and make-up for that time. Karloff was amazing as the Monster. Also loved the sequel "Bride of Frankenstein".
