See Post No. 25. The OP didn't say that the check was written for their account. The OP only said that they have an account at Chase, not that the scratched out check was for the OP's account. It was probably a check they were trying to cash that was written by a friend or relative on another account. Since the payer on the check wasn't present, the bank would not cash the check. At least that is the way I interpreted the thread.
