Yes it does - I should have stated that. I haven't lost my music files - just all of the data associated with iTunes....the links to files in My Music, ratings, playlists etc.

I do have Media Player but have avoided using it as the windows itunes very easily syncs with my iphone and that's where I mostly play my music from.
