While there may still be a (remote) chance that Laundrie is not the murderer, the actions (or more precisely, 'inaction') of his parents and himself to date - doesn't help his cause. It's also not much of a leap to imagine, given what has been reported, that he has been over-coddled by his parents his entire life and might think they will do anything to protect him. In all honesty though, I'm also pretty confused as to the relationship between Gabby and her parents. I'm just hoping that justice for Gabby, will eventually prevail - whatever that turns out to be.
Many murderers are sociopaths, but not all sociopaths are murderers. A proclivity to violence is not a trait they all have. Sociopaths can be very convincing in their sincerity even with those who "know" them well. They are adept liars and can summon their emotions at the drop of a hat, especially crying/tears. They lack is empathy for others and feelings or guilt or remorse for the pain they cause, which makes them ideal killers. They also tend to be smart and often times, charming and can present a likable facade.
