I am also a lerker, i am planning on moving there when the time is right. I decided to join this forum because it is better to be forewarned. It's a great way to get a feel of the group dynamics and figure out the "rules" before moving there. I have a couple of friends who already live there.

That being said, we watched the movie just the other day. I did not feel it was a movie about The Villages, but stories of humans living. The movie picked fringe characters and that location to get rating.

I was very angry with the van guy and how he talked proudly about preying on the women. His kind are everywhere and lonely women will always fall for it. The couple, was very unusual no matter where they lived. The single woman, her story is played out in every town. I hope she sold her house recently and made enough money from it to happier fields. Unfortunately, i feel her life will be unfulling no matter where she ends. She seemed (just from the movie) to have what i call "i can't catch a break and the world is against me" mentality. No one wants to be with a sad, "the world did me wrong" person because they suck your soul dry. You can be poor and still have a generally positive attitude.

Don't let the movie make you feel like it put a bad mark on The Villages. Anyone who is not going to move there after the movie wasn't worth having.
