Almost forgot---besides my toe comment, I forgot to mention Necator Americanus---it's the new world version of old world Ancylostoma duodenale, the common name is the parasite "hookworm"----the larva enter through bare feet and find their way to the GI tract and suck nutrients from your body causing anemia, and in kids possible mental retardation. The drugs used to treat it also suck (pun intended) Bottom line----WEAR SHOES!!!
