Cats cannot efficiently digest plant protein or carbohydrates, and both of those things are added to dry kibble. Grain-free kibble isn't "better" than grain-content kibble. Rather, it is "less bad." They're both bad choices for a cat's diet and were invented to convenience the owner. A dry-food diet is the #1 cause of kidney disease in cats.

Also, you need at least 2 litter boxes for one cat, if you're going to leave him alone for 4 days.

Lastly, leaving a bowl of water out for 4 days and expecting kitty to say "oh yeah, nom nom bacteria-loaded water that contains three days of my own spit and bloated stale kibble crumbs" is not any cat's idea of a reasonable provision.

Domesticated cats are at the mercy of their owners. What's convenient for you, can be harmful to your pet. Which do you value more? Your pet, or your convenience? If convenience is more important to you, then please do your pet a favor and find it a home that will value it more. If you value the cat more than convenience, then treat it better.
Cats have always been fine on dry food, never cans. Litter box is fine for the week. Cats take care of themselves. All is good with us.
