You're supposed to use a turn signal when exiting from one road to another. If you were to NOT turn right, you'd continue going around in the circle - forever. An exit off a roundabout is, technically, a right turn. You're moving counter-clockwise - which is in a leftward direction - until you exit. And then you turn right to get out of that circle. Even if you're going "straight" you're not actually going straight. By the time you get to that exit, your vehicle is still turned as though it was heading to the NEXT exit. But you're not going there, you're exiting now. And so - you put your turn signal on so people know you're about to leave the circle.
This is especially important if you're exiting from the inside lane because you have to cross over the outside lane to get to that exit.
