One, look at the source of your information.

Two, have a look at countries that have placed restrictions of various types of firearms (Australia being one example back in 1996). Significant reductions in violent crimes, firearm suicides and mass shootings.

It’s clear from our statistics that more guns is not the answer. Personally I never feel safe around people with guns, even cops.
Experiences differ, I suspect.

I attended several Second Amendment rallies when I lived in Minnesota. Minnesota is a permit-to-carry state, not concealed-carry. If you have a permit in Minnesota you can carry openly and many do. One rally, about three years ago, in particular sticks in my memory. It was on the Capitol lawn in St. Paul. About 3,000 attendees and I'd say 2,000 were carrying, many openly. There were several dignitaries in attendance: 2018 was an election year. There was a candidate for Congress, the chairperson of the Minnesota Republican Party, several sitting legislators.

There was law enforcement present as well. Five officers in total. Four of them were on the perimeter of the rally facing AWAY from the crowd, on the watch for demonstrators (who never showed up). The fifth, a uniformed St. Paul cop, was with the crowd, chatting with people, looking at exhibits and generally having just as good a time as any of the rest of us.

That told me a lot. At least 2,000 armed citizens and the cops were FAR more worried about the folks who were anti-gun.
