I am amazed at the way people read something then leap to a wildly unsupported belief as to what they read. Actually I am not surprised at all.
Penn reported that"my gate pass fell" Nowhere does it say it was dropped out the window yet we get this

If he were a kind person, he could have picked it up for you, but obviously he wasn’t.

It would be difficult to open your door wide enough to reach down to ground and retrieve pass.

A real “gentleman “ would have picked up her gate card and handed it back to her with a smile.

He wants her to push red button to move on and leave card on ground.

So, I'm wondering what the OP was going to do about the dropped gate card if the guard had opened the gate? Just drive off, leave it on the ground and order a new one? If OP was so far away from the button that OP couldn't reach out the window and push it, then OP had room to open the car door and retrieve the gate card and use it to open the gate.
While it is possible the gate pass was dropped onto the street, it is more likely that it was dropped inside the car as post #17 mentioned.

Post #21 gave the correct information that the gate person can open either gate from inside the booth. No need to leave the booth and go push the red button.

In addition, if the rules say he can’t leave the hut, there are always exceptions to the rules
