One hint--make certain the delivery persons place the dryer door so it opens on the side next to the washer. Ours didn't do so and I had to stop them as they were leaving to come back and reverse the door.
There are front loader and top loader washing machines and dryers. As no one has a basement; I so miss mine, storage is limited. In our laundry room, I put in a storage rack. Thus, we have top loaders. A front loader, not sure if we even have room to open the door in any case it would be limited space.
