The salts, I think are sodium chloride, common table salt and calcium chloride. We have used both to melt snow and ice. I seem to recall the calcium chloride in opened bags, did not form lumps as badly as the sodium chloride did.
Also Potassium Chloride (KCl)... That's what our system uses...
